Now I Cry

Now I cry but not with tears; inside
After long, long years
      Of holding it
Now I cry
Out of a burst of pain
And howl in darkness out of my loneliness
Now I give my pain its full release
With no shame, no stops. Dead hopeless

Tired. Tired of life
Tired of people
Of betrayals, of being double crossed
I am tired.
The phone is silent.
             No one calls any more
The wall in front of me speaks, its language—hard
The phone is silent.
            No one cares any more
The only sound amidst the silence is writing in my mind.
