Something with muddy,
vertical marks comes ruffling towards me in the stream of things. At
first I cannot tell what it is. It scrambles over my foot, making fine,
transparent ripples around me; and it is at the very last moment, a
heartbeat before it flutters away, that I can see it was only an empty
dress.
