INSPIRATION 

He wanted to reach out, to hold on to his dad, but the door between them had already closed shut. It had not been slammed—but it might as well have.

Some silences were more suffocating, weighing more heavily on you with worry, hurt, anguish; they were much more alarming than the noisiest noise. To Ben’s ears, it sounded final.
